You can absolutely buy it as an end user, but the catch is that it doesn't pass the grandma test, you need to be a bit more tech-savy.

So true. All Fitbit did after the acquisition was shelve all of Pebble's tech. Pebble, to this day, still has the best smart watch screen. Those refresh rates were crazy.

Don't worry, Google just killed the Pebble App from the playstore, so you can be more sad now.
