Meta but does the name have any relation or maybe give homage to the other Asahi?

There are lots of things called Asahi (a beer, a newspaper, an ISP, ...), but our project is specifically named after the Asahi apple, which is the Japanese name for the McIntosh Apple.

That's ridiculously clever.

Their about page only says:

> Asahi means “rising sun” in Japanese, and it is also the name of an apple cultivar. 旭りんご (asahi ringo) is what we know as the McIntosh Apple, the apple variety that gave the Mac its name.

There are tons of "other Asahi" - among other things it's a beer (super dry), baseball team, ramen noodle moniker
