I've always wondered if we'll ever see a paradigm shift toward services being hosted on our phones. Not feasible now due to battery life concerns, but these are little Linux computers with redundant (wifi plus cellular) network connections that are always turned on. Some battery advancement and more efficient E cores and we're there, no?
From what I think I understand, a big difference between a Linux distro and Android (apart from the security model) is the battery optimization.
A mobile phone is very different from a Linux server in that it's idling most of the time. But if you run a server and prevent the system from optimizing the battery, then it won't last very long.
